Sascha comes from a family of professional artists, musicians, and creative entrepreneurs. Sascha travelled and independently studied art through seven countries in Europe from 1992-93. She attended Antioch College in Ohio and then transferred and graduated from Marylhurst University with a degree in fine art. She taught art to children at Alameda and Richmond schools in Portland, OR before founding Fine Art Starts in 1997, a fine art school focused on fulfilling the need for fine art education for children.
In Sascha's spare time she continues to paint and sculpt. Her personal artwork ranges from rich and introspective to dream-like and bright. She believes art is a basic human instinct.a need to express one's Self and experiences. Her work is found in private and University collections mostly on the West Coast.

Tara Walters was born in Brainerd, Minnesota. All through out her life she has been a creative individual. She began in dance, plays and art at seven years old and continues as an active artist. She is a focused painter that at one time considered a Graphic Design degree from Santa Monica College in the greater Los Angeles area but realized she loved working with children and fine art mediums and soon completed a B.A. in Art Education with emphasis in Painting and Printmaking from San Francisco State University. She has had her photography published in Thrasher magazine, a skateboarding magazine, and has been an active member of artist communities throughout the Bay area.
She now thrives in Portland, Oregon as an art educator and a Bikram yoga instructor. She draws from life and imagination, loves working with children and enjoys helping them find their inner talents!

Denise has her BA in art from Marylhurst University. Influenced by her father, also an artist, he remembers that art has been her passion since she first put crayon to paper. Denise enjoys painting, drawing, three-dimensional and mixed-media art forms.
She has worked with children ranging from preschool through 8th grade and appreciates learning as much from them as they do from her. Married for fifteen years, she is the mother of three energetic children, who are her greatest source of joy; humor is one of the highest values in this family of five!

This is my third year working at Fine Art Starts and I'm really delighted to be in a creative environment. I've been an art student of Sascha's for six years, and have finally discovered my passion - kids' art. I also love traveling, working with horses, reading, learning the violin and guitar, being out in nature as much as possible, and spending time with my family.

Jenny graduated from University of Redlands with a degree in Liberal Studies and received her Masters in Education at Concordia University. She enjoys working with children and art because she feels it provides an outlet for expression, is limitless, and every child can and does create something interesting.

Felicity has her Masters in Interdisciplinary Arts from Goddard College and is a freelance artist and graphic designer.Felicity was born in Colorado and lived in New York City until 2006. She currently lives in Portland and enjoys drawing, painting, children, and travel. Her travels have taken her as far as India and Europe. She is well versed and talented in many different art medias and enjoys nurtuting children's creativity through sharing her art process!

Jake has professionally illustrated dozens of game, entertainment, and for publishing companies including Ronin Arts, Goodman Games, Arcadiam Games, King Tractor Films, and Rebel Miniatures. He has also helped publish and edit several comic books, including one by Fine Art Starts Spring Term 2007 students. View the book. Interests include: Italian food, foreign and domestic comics, and travel.
