Art Exploration on Thursdays
Grades K-5

Intro to Ceramics (Handbuilding/Sculpting/Pottery Wheel)
​Grades 6-9 (or by Instructor's permission)

Thursdays 4:30-6:00pm

Description:
1.5 hour class!
Small group instruction of 10 students or less per class.
In this course, students will learn where clay comes from, stages of clay, and the full ceramic process from squishy to glazed!
Learn handbuilding techniques, then pottery wheel safety and basics, practice centering and work towards making functional creations as you strengthen your hands and hone your skills.
This is an ongoing class that may be repeated, and prepares students for continuing study to the next level of ceramics when readiness is demonstrated.

Wheel Curious I. (Pottery Wheel)
​Ages 15 - Adults
Instructors: Ms. Laura (Mondays) & Ms. Emma (Tuesdays)

Description:
This course is offered as a single evening experience on the first Monday or Tuesday of each month.  It'll whet your palette and get you excited to get your hands into clay!  Experience a demo, learn wheel basics, and try your hand at centering and making a small vessel during this single-evening course. 
Once this class is completed, you'll be ready to join us for three or more classes of "Wheel Curious II".  This is a repeatable course until students are ready to progress to an ongoing Handbuilding and/or Pottery course.

Small group instruction of only 5 students per class.  Lots of individual attention!
This is an ongoing class that may be repeated, and prepares students for continuing study to the next level of ceramics when readiness is demonstrated.

$39 Clay and firing cost included during 2-hour class time.  Option to come back to glaze the work after it's been fired.

Wheel Curious II. (Pottery Wheel)

Prerequisite: "Wheel Curious I."
Description:
This course is offered as a continuation in the journey of clay exploration.  Learn more about clay and its possibilities for three more exciting weeks!  Each class focuses on a demo, time to practice on the wheel while learning helpful techniques in centering and basic forms, options for texture, and glazing.

This is an ongoing class that may be repeated, and prepares students for continuing study to the next level of ceramics when readiness is demonstrated.  Students wishing to continue may join an 8-week course, or repeat this series more than once.

Semi-Independent studies challenge you in a positive way, whether you're a new or continuing student. Exciting, guided assignments with an emphasis on unique interpretation and personal expression supported by technical demonstrations and time to practice. Explore many medias while you balance your own ideas with traditional and exploratory media, with options in Drawing, Painting, Mixed Media and Digital Art

Bring a family member and come sculpt with us!  You'll have the chance to get your hands into clay, free-sculpt, and then follow along to make a project designed by the Instructor that will be fun and appropriately challenging.

Small class of 8 students, so there's lots of individualized attention.

Each month's Family Sculpt is a time that you can set aside to be creative with your loved ones.  Have fun collaborating together, and appreciating your diverse gifts through clay.

This is a repeatable course.
$32 per 2-hour scupt time per person.
Clay and first firing cost included.  Returning families who sign up again will have the opportunity to glaze their work at the next Family Sculpt, along with learning a new sculpting project!​

Family rate for 4 people is $112 ($16 off per person).
