Studio

Interior of a clay studio with pottery wheels in the foreground
Our studio is located in the Raleigh Hills neighborhood in Portland, Oregon. This cozy space features a clay studio downstairs, with five pottery wheels and room for hand building or sculpture. Class sizes are always small, so you get closer to a 1:1 experience with our experienced class instructors.

We are currently only booking custom classes in this space.

Upstairs, we have traditional art media workshop space for drawing, painting, printmaking, and more.

We love hosting multi-generational groups, bring the whole family! If you'd like to book something special, check out the Custom Private Classes page below, or contact our studio manager Jorie by emailing [email protected].

Accessibility Note: Our clay studio can be entered with no steps from the main entry. However, our bathroom is located on the second floor of the space and is only accessible by use of a set of stairs with one landing after the first step, and a second landing partway through. Please let us know if you'd like to schedule a free video call to determine if the space can accommodate your mobility needs.

Picking up your finished pieces
Your clay artwork goes through many steps after you leave the studio. We try our very best to deliver finished pieces that look the way you last saw them, just a little smaller and shinier, but due to the often unpredictable and unforgiving nature of ceramics, things can happen. We cannot guarantee any pieces to make it through the drying, firing, glazing, and second firing. We tell our students not to fall in love with their pieces until they're safely at home with you. The whole process of drying, firing, glazing, and a second firing can take up to six weeks. You'll receive an email from us when they're ready for pickup. You'll have one month to pick up your finished artwork once it's ready. After that, we cannot hold unclaimed pieces.

We are a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization.  Your charitable contributions are tax-deductible.

It is a policy and priority of Fine Art Starts that there is no discrimination or harassment on the grounds of race, color, sex, marital status, religion, national origin, age, disability or sexual orientation in any educational programs, activities or employment.
