After-School Classes FAQS
-
We are a fine art program (not a crafty make-and-take one), so your student is learning elements and principles of fine art in a fun way!
We introduce students to fine art skills, which they balance with their own ideas to create unique outcomes.
Students experience in-person, real-time instruction, support and feedback from excellent staff.
We cap our classes at 18-20 students or less per class to allow for more individualized attention.

Yes! Classes meet once a week for an hour after school. When you register, students come to weekly classes. You’ll be able to see which dates class will not be held (ie: holidays, no-school days).
-
Yes, they do! They fill especially quickly at schools where our program is offered on early-release days.
-
No! We don’t repeat the same projects every time. It’s new every session! We have a rotating curriculum so K-5 students experience new projects every session and year they’re in our program. Some students are with us for a session or few, but the far majority continue through their elementary school years. The Elements and Principles of Fine Art don’t change, but the actual projects (and how those elements and principles are used in the art) are limitless!
-
If you already know your student is enjoying class, then signing up for the whole school year has benefits:
holds your spot so you don’t have to re-register every session (and risk losing your spot if someone registers faster)
saves you $10 on the registration fees ($50/school year -or- $20/session x 3 session = $60).
Please keep in mind we aren’t always able to offer full school-year classes at every school. We’ll still be there for the whole school year, but the school or district won’t always allow organizations to book more than a couple months in advance (so we do it session by session).
-
This is not a make-and-take program where kids bring something home every week. Students are gradually introduced to the elements and principles of Fine Art through several years of after-school study. You can expect them to create 3-4 pieces of finished art work each session (so 9-12 pieces of work per school year). We’d rather have kids bring home work you’d consider framing rather than tossing in the recycling.
-
Students work on projects in drawing, painting and clay. Each session (fall / winter / spring) includes one or more projects in each media.
-
This happens! If so, we always do our best to catch them up the following class. There are no refunds or make-ups for missed classes.
-
We love our parent volunteers in the classroom, and for Art Show preparations (and at the event)! Once you have already cleared the background check and requirements your school expects of volunteers, fill out the volunteer form on our donate tab to share your time! We’d love to have you!
Art Camp! FAQS
-
We’ve been doing this a long time. Since 1998 to be exact! Our established summer camp program is the highlight of summer for hundreds (and thousands) of kids.
We introduce students to fine art skills, which they balance with their own ideas to create unique outcomes in safe spaces for them to express their creativity individually and within small groups.
Students experience in-person, real-time instruction, support and feedback from excellent staff. During summer camps kids will learn skills, and then explore how they might want to add those skills into their projects.

Any camps that include CLAY or POTTERY fill the most quickly. We recommend registering before the end of January if you’re hoping for a spot in a camp that includes clay. All other camps do fill, usually by early June, if not sooner.
-
We keep things fresh every camp week, and every year! Each week has a theme, and even if campers attended that camp type last summer, there’s new content and projects for this year! There are some popular camper activities we do every year (ie: fairy wands, Friday Art Show, and making forest forts).
-
Please read our readiness policies here. If your camper isn’t yet ready, please consider waiting to enroll them next year, when they’re excited and prepared to come to camp. It’s important to your camper, to us and the other campers that all participants are ready to attend, and they want to be at camp, and not haphazardly enrolled to fill a daycare need.
-
This is not a make-and-take program where kids bring a craft project home every single day. Please be reasonable in what you’re expecting from them as far as production goes. Our #1 goal for the summer campers is to have a great time!
You can usually expect them to create 2-5 pieces of finished art work each week. This varies depending on the speed at which they work, and how much time they put into their projects. We’d rather have kids bring home work you’d consider framing rather than tossing in the recycling.
-
We address this in a case-by-case basis. In addition to First Aid, CPR and Safety, many of our summer camp staff are also trained in EpiPen usage. Please email us after you register so we can make a special note on your account and check in with you on your camper’s individual needs regarding medication.
-
Sorry, parents, grandparents and guardians cannot stay during camp. However, if you have a full day camper, they are more than welcome to show you around the campus and forest area at pick up time.
-
If you’d like to volunteer, the summer ART Camp tasks we need the most help with are: preparing for the Friday Art Show, and major clean up on Fridays (4-5pm).
If this interests you, please fill out of volunteer form here to donate your time. You’ll also need to meet the background check requirements. We’d love to have you!
